Our 6x4 tractor units are built for linehaul work — towing curtainsider or pull-trailer combinations rather than carrying freight directly. Each unit runs a standard fifth-wheel coupling and is matched to your trailer, route, and permitted gross combination mass before it leaves our Tamahere yard.
Pricing is transparent and GST exclusive: a base weekly rate from $1,856.34, plus Road User Charges at $0.48 per kilometre and maintenance at $0.29 per kilometre, reconciled by odometer, hubodometer, and Fleetpin telematics. Your contract sets a kilometre cap, with any overage billed at $0.50 per kilometre on the next invoice.

What licences and training do drivers need?
Drivers must hold a valid Class 5 licence, with a Dangerous Goods endorsement required when carrying DG. We sight licences at handover and run through familiarisation on coupling, daily checks, and how to report defects, while compliance stays with the hirer throughout the hire.
What trailers can this tractor unit tow?
This 6x4 tractor unit runs a standard fifth-wheel coupling and can be matched to our pull-trailer and curtainsider trailer range, or your own trailer subject to compatibility and permitted mass.
How is pricing calculated and billed?
Pricing is GST exclusive: a base weekly rate from $1,856.34, plus Road User Charges at $0.48 per kilometre and maintenance at $0.29 per kilometre. Do you arrange HPMV or 50MAX permits?
Yes. We arrange permits, including 50MAX or HPMV, for a $200 admin fee, matching the unit and trailer to your permitted gross combination mass and keeping loaded height within the legal 4.3-metre envelope.
What is included and excluded?
Included: scheduled servicing, fair tyre wear, general maintenance, registration, and CoF. Excluded: GST, fuel and AdBlue, insurance, operator-caused damage, infringements, and cleaning if required. Safety gear is provided on board; load bars and straps aren't included as standard but can be arranged, and are charged at replacement cost if lost or damaged.
Where is pick-up and return, and can you deliver?
Pick-up is during business hours from our Tamahere, Waikato yard, with returns available after hours by arrangement. We can also deliver or collect nationwide for $50 per hour plus running costs, covering Hamilton and permit-compliant routes further afield.
What happens during a breakdown?
A toll-free breakdown line is available and our workshop coordinates repairs and keeps you updated. If a unit is off the road for more than 96 hours due to a breakdown, we provide a replacement subject to availability. Incidents like wrong fuel or lost keys are charged at cost to the hirer.
What are the cleaning and damage rules on return?
The unit should come back in the condition supplied. Light cleaning is charged at $200 and heavy cleaning at $550, both GST exclusive, with extra decontamination assessed case by case. Fair wear and tear is on us; operator damage such as punctures or sidewall cuts is charged to the hirer.
