Pricing & Billing

Do prices include GST or fuel?

All prices are in NZD and exclude GST. The weekly or monthly base applies, plus per-km charges for Road User Charges and maintenance. Fuel and AdBlue are on the hirer. We include scheduled servicing, fair tyre wear, general maintenance, registration, and current CoF.

Who supplies RUC and maintenance costs?

We can purchase and on-charge RUC, or you can purchase and display it yourself. Maintenance is charged at the agreed dollars-per-kilometre rate stated in your quote and contract. We reconcile distance using the odometer or hubodometer and may reference telematics.

How do kilometre caps and overage charges work?

Your contract sets a monthly kilometre cap aligned to your route and workload. If you exceed the cap, we charge $0.50 per kilometre (GST exclusive) and add it to the next invoice. We don't credit under-use unless we agree in writing.

What's included and excluded in the hire price?

Included: scheduled servicing, fair tyre wear, general maintenance, registration, and a current CoF. Excluded: GST, fuel and AdBlue, insurance, operator-caused damage, infringements, tolls, parking tickets, and any cleaning required on return. We forward infringement notices to you and request proof of payment; currently we do not add an admin fee.

How does the time-and-mileage option differ from weekly?

Time-and-mileage uses the same dollars-per-kilometre matrix for RUC and maintenance as our weekly or monthly pricing. It suits variable workloads where utilisation changes week to week. We don't publish lane-based variations; if needed, we agree these case by case.

What happens if actual kilometres exceed the agreed cap?

If you exceed the cap set in your contract, we add the overage to your next invoice at $0.50 per kilometre (GST exclusive). If you expect seasonal peaks, talk to us before peak season and we'll help plan capacity, permits, and the most cost-effective rate structure.

What is your fuel and AdBlue policy?

We supply vehicles with a full tank and you return them at the same level stated in the agreement. If the tank is short, we charge the pump price and any admin fee specified in your contract. AdBlue is at your cost during the hire.

Licensing & Compliance

What licences do drivers need?

You must supply correctly licensed drivers: Class 2 for medium rigid, Class 4 for heavy rigid, and Class 5 for truck and trailer. A Dangerous Goods (DG) endorsement is required when carrying DG. We sight licences at handover and ongoing compliance remains with you.

Can we tow pull trailers legally?

Yes, subject to permits, route, and Gross Combination Mass (GCM). We match trucks and trailers to your task, arrange any 50MAX or HPMV permits as required, and charge a $200 admin fee for permit handling.

What are the maximum legal vehicle dimensions we must follow?

You must comply with New Zealand dimension and mass rules. The usual maximum loaded height is 4.3 metres and width is 2.55 metres unless a permit allows otherwise. Length and mass depend on the vehicle, axle groupings, and any permit. We'll confirm allowable mass for your unit and route at booking.

Can you match a truck and trailer to our exact route and freight?

Yes. We match units based on permitted masses, GCM, and network constraints, and we arrange 50MAX or HPMV permits if required. We keep overall height within the standard 4.3-metre envelope and confirm allowable masses for the chosen unit and route before you commit.

What driving and compliance rules must our team follow?

Drivers must follow heavy vehicle rules at all times, including the 90 km/h open-road limit, posted lower limits, logbook and rest requirements, and all NZTA regulations. We have zero tolerance for alcohol, drugs, and reckless driving. Do not operate over-dimension or over-mass without permits, and do not carry DG without a DG-endorsed driver.

Booking, Bond & Insurance

What about booking, bond and insurance?

Minimum booking is seven days. If the requested unit is available, we confirm within 24 hours. Everyone signs our hire agreement and pays the bond plus one week's rent in advance. You must insure the vehicle for the full term and provide proof before collection.

How do we confirm a booking and pick-up date?

Quotes are valid for five days. To confirm, sign the quote, pay the bond and first week's rent, and provide proof of insurance. We then confirm the pick-up date, issue the schedule, and send the hire agreement for signing so your vehicle is ready on time.

Do you have a cancellation policy or fees?

We don't publish a notice-based cancellation table. Your hire agreement sets the terms. Invoices carry a due date; if unpaid, we may terminate and recover the unit as permitted by the agreement. Please review your contract for any formal cancellation schedule.

Are your services suitable for individuals as well as companies?

Yes. We hire to both businesses and individuals nationwide. Everyone signs the hire agreement and pays the bond plus one week's rent in advance. For business accounts we may request NZBN, TSL, an insurance certificate, and trade references so we can onboard you efficiently.

Vehicle Specs & Equipment

Do trucks have tail-lifts or mezz?

No trucks have tail-lifts. Some Class 5 units may have mezzanine floors by prior arrangement. Class 2 and Class 4 trucks do not have mezz floors.

What vehicle specifications will we receive before booking?

We confirm unit-specific details at booking, such as GVM/GCM, internal dimensions, tie-down points, curtain ratings, tare, payload, drawbar and coupling specs, braking systems, SRT ratings, and hubodometers. To keep information accurate, we do not publish per-unit specs online; we provide them with your quote so you can confirm fit for purpose.

What sizes are your pull trailers?

Our 5-axle pull trailers are 22-pallet units with an approximate 11.5-metre internal deck length. Our 4-axle pull trailers are 18-pallet units. Other specifications, including tare, payload, internal width and height, braking, SRT, drawbar eye size, and coupling height, are confirmed per trailer before you commit.

Do you offer 22-pallet and 18-pallet solutions for curtainsider freight?

Yes. Our 5-axle pull trailers provide 22-pallet capacity with an approximately 11.5-metre internal deck length, and our 4-axle pull trailers provide 18-pallet capacity. We'll confirm internal height and width, coupling, and SRT details for the exact unit when we quote.

Do you provide load bars, straps, or dunnage?

No, we don't include load bars or straps as standard. Safety gear is supplied in all vehicles. We can arrange additional accessories by request, and any lost or damaged accessories are charged at replacement cost. You must secure loads to the Truck Loading Code using rated restraints appropriate to your freight.

Do you have tail-lift or forklift loading restrictions?

We don't run tail-lifts. Loading and unloading are the hirer's responsibility. Curtains are not a load restraint unless used within their rated limits, so plan appropriate load bars, straps, edge protectors, and dunnage for your pallets.

Pick-Up, Delivery & Returns

How do pick-ups, returns, and after-hours access work?

Pick-ups are during business hours from our Tamahere, Waikato yard. We complete a joint pre-inspection, take photos of all sides and the odometer or hubodometer, check ID and licences, and run through a short familiarisation covering curtains, coupling/uncoupling, daily checks, and defect reporting. Returns are during business hours; after-hours yard returns can be arranged at no extra fee. After inspection we refund the bond if there's no damage and the fuel level matches the agreement.

Can you deliver or collect vehicles to our site?

Yes. We can deliver or collect vehicles by arrangement at $50 per hour plus the vehicle's running costs. This is often the simplest option if your team is busy or located away from Waikato.

Do you allow after-hours support or contact for urgent issues?

Phone support runs during business hours for general queries, and after-hours calls for breakdowns go to our toll-free line. Returns to the yard after hours can be arranged in advance at no extra fee, which helps line up driver rosters and dock times.

How clean must the truck be on return?

Return the vehicle in the same condition as supplied. If cleaning is required, we deduct from the bond at the agreed rates: light cleaning $200; heavy cleaning $550. Extra decontamination may apply case by case depending on the freight.

Do you offer weekend or after-hours pickups?

Our yard runs standard business hours for pickups. After-hours returns can often be arranged in advance at no extra fee — get in touch ahead of your dates and we'll see what's possible.

Maintenance, Support & Breakdowns

How do you use telematics and what do you track?

We use Fleetpin telematics to monitor location and kilometres. We use this data to reconcile billing and RUC, schedule maintenance, and protect assets. We explain data use at handover and use it only for legitimate operational purposes described in your agreement.

How are CoF inspections handled during a long hire or lease?

Heavy commercial vehicles typically have six-monthly inspections. We keep the CoF current, notify you at least a week in advance, and book the workshop. You bring the vehicle in at the scheduled time so we can keep your unit compliant and available.

What happens if the truck breaks down on hire?

Call our toll-free breakdown line. Our workshop coordinates assistance. If a truck is off the road for more than 96 hours due to a mechanical breakdown, we'll provide a replacement unit subject to availability. Issues such as wrong fuel or lost keys are charged at cost.

How do you handle damage, wear and tear, and tyres?

We cover fair wear and tear. Operator-caused damage remains with the hirer. Punctures are charged at cost; sidewall cuts usually require tyre replacement. Curtain patches or panel section replacements are charged at cost. We document condition with photos at handover and return.

Leasing, Branding & Coverage

Can we lease to buy a truck or set?

Yes, we support lease-to-buy terms from one to five years on approved units. Optional add-ons apply only to lease-to-buy. We'll discuss the structure, deposit, and end-of-term options during quoting so you can plan fleet changes with confidence.

Can we brand the truck for our business?

Temporary branding and colour custom builds are available only on five-year leases. We can build curtain and cab colours to your requirements on those long-term deals. We do not allow drilling or adhesive vinyl on existing curtains unless it forms part of a five-year lease build.

Do you supply Class 2, 4, and 5 truck hire in Waikato and nationwide?

Yes. We provide Class 2, Class 4, and Class 5 curtainsider truck hire and pull trailer hire from Tamahere, Waikato, serving Hamilton, Auckland, Bay of Plenty, and nationwide on permit-compliant routes. We'll help match the right vehicle or truck-and-trailer set to your route and freight.

Who is responsible for tolls, tickets, and speeding fines?

The hirer is responsible for all tolls, parking tickets, and speeding fines incurred during the hire. We forward notices by email and request proof of payment. We currently do not add an admin fee.

Do you help new customers understand coupling, curtains, and checks?

At pick-up we run a short familiarisation covering curtains, coupling and uncoupling where relevant, daily checks, and how to report defects. We provide a joint checklist and store it with the handover record so expectations are clear for both of us.

Managing Your Hire

Can I extend my hire once it's started?

Yes — if the unit is available for the extra time, we can extend your agreement. Let us know before your return date so we can update your kilometre cap and paperwork accordingly.

Can I add an authorised additional driver?

Yes. Additional drivers need to meet the same licence and DG endorsement requirements as the primary driver and be added to the hire agreement before they operate the vehicle.

Do I need to be present for vehicle handover?

The person named on the hire agreement, or an authorised representative, needs to be present for the joint pre-inspection, ID and licence check, and familiarisation at pick-up.

Can I switch vehicle class partway through a lease?

Talk to us as your freight needs change — where a suitable unit is available, we can help you move to a different class or configuration as part of your ongoing lease.

Can I hire a tractor unit and trailer separately rather than as a 9-axle set?

Yes. Our tractor units and pull trailers can be hired on their own if you already have a compatible unit to pair them with, or together as a matched 9-axle combination.
