Practical Capacity, Permit-Ready Support
Why Choose SS Rentals For 18-Pallet Trailer Hire?
From our Tamahere, Waikato base we support operators across Hamilton and nationwide on permit-compliant routes, matching each 4-axle pull trailer to your tractor and route by gross combination mass and terrain. We handle 50MAX or HPMV applications on your behalf for a simple $200 admin fee, so permits don't slow down your booking.
At pick-up we complete a joint inspection, capture photographs, and walk your driver through coupling and daily checks. Our breakdown team is on a toll-free line around the clock, and if this trailer is off the road more than 96 hours due to a breakdown, we'll supply a replacement subject to availability.
- 18-pallet capacity matched to your tractor and route
- Self-drive hire from 7 days, Class 5 licence required
- Toll-free breakdown line with 96-hour replacement cover
Transparent, GST-Exclusive Pricing
A 4-Axle Pull Trailer Built For 18-Pallet Freight
Pricing combines a base weekly or monthly rate with per-kilometre charges for Road User Charges and maintenance, all GST exclusive. We set a kilometre cap appropriate to your operation and reconcile distance using odometer or hubodometer data and Fleetpin telematics, with any overage typically charged at $0.50 per kilometre.
We keep heights within the legal 4.3-metre envelope and require load restraint in line with the Truck Loading Code — curtains alone aren't rated as restraint. A current Class 5 licence is mandatory for towing, with a DG endorsement where dangerous goods are involved.
Ready to add 18-pallet trailer capacity to your fleet? Enquire today for availability, GST-exclusive pricing, and permit matching for your towing vehicle and route.

Everything You Need To Know
Plan Your 4-Axle Pull Trailer Hire
What Hire Terms Apply To This Pull Trailer?
Hire starts at a 7-day minimum, with short-term hire or long-term leases available. We operate from Tamahere, Waikato, and support Hamilton and nationwide customers on permit-compliant routes. Towing this trailer requires a valid Class 5 licence, plus a DG endorsement if dangerous goods are involved.
Can I Hire This Trailer On Its Own Or As Part Of A Set?
Yes. This 4-axle trailer can be hired on its own if you're supplying the tow vehicle, or paired with one of our tractor units or curtainsider trucks as part of a 9-axle set.
What Loads Suit This Trailer, And How Must They Be Restrained?
This 18-pallet trailer suits palletised freight such as FMCG, packaging, building products, and linehaul overflow, running shuttles around Hamilton and Waikato as well as nationwide work on permit-compliant routes. Loads must be restrained under the Truck Loading Code — curtains aren't restraint unless within their rated limits.
How Is Pricing Calculated And Billed?
Pricing uses a base weekly or monthly rate plus per-kilometre charges for RUC and maintenance, all GST exclusive. A monthly kilometre cap is set in the agreement, with distance reconciled using the odometer or hubodometer and Fleetpin telematics; kilometres over the cap are charged at $0.50 per kilometre.
Can You Arrange Permits And Match The Trailer To My Tractor?
Yes. We arrange 50MAX or HPMV permits where needed for a $200 admin fee and keep combinations within the 4.3-metre legal height envelope, operating only on permit-compliant routes. We also confirm drawbar eye size, coupling height, braking system, and SRT rating per unit at booking to match your tractor's capabilities to the route.
What's Included, And Can You Deliver Or Collect?
Servicing, CoF renewals, and routine maintenance are covered by us, alongside safety gear as standard. Fuel, road user charges, tolls, and any damage beyond fair wear and tear sit with the hirer. We can deliver or collect by arrangement for $50 per hour plus the vehicle's running costs, anywhere across Hamilton, wider Waikato, or nationwide on permit-compliant routes.
What Happens During A Breakdown, And How Do Pick-Up And Returns Work?
We provide a toll-free breakdown line and coordinate assistance through our workshop network — if a trailer is off the road more than 96 hours due to a breakdown, we'll supply a replacement subject to availability. Pick-up is from our yard during business hours with a joint inspection, photo condition report, and licence check; returns can be made after hours by arrangement, with the bond refunded once fuel levels and agreed conditions are confirmed.
