Compliance, Uptime And Clear Pricing
An 8x4 Curtainsider Built For 14-Pallet Freight
Our 8x4 Class 5 curtainsiders carry 14 pallets, self-drive with a correctly licensed Class 5 driver on regional and long-distance runs. Like the rest of our curtainsider range, this truck doesn't carry a tail-lift — some units can be fitted with a mezzanine floor by prior arrangement if your freight needs it.
Every unit is matched to your route and permitted gross combination mass, with 50MAX or HPMV permits arranged for a $200 admin fee and loaded height kept within the legal 4.3-metre envelope. Units are maintained to schedule, kept CoF-current, and handed over clean with a documented condition check.
Looking for extra capacity for your next long-distance run? Enquire today for availability, transparent GST-exclusive pricing, and permit guidance on this 8x4 curtainsider, with pickup available from Cambridge, Waikato.

14-Pallet Capacity

Load via full curtain access on both sides; a mezzanine floor can be fitted by prior arrangement if your freight needs mixed-height capacity.
Class 5 Licence Ready
Self-drive with a current Class 5 licence, plus a Dangerous Goods endorsement where dangerous goods are involved.

Everything You Need To Know
Plan Your Class 5 Curtainsider Hire
What licences do drivers need?
We're self-drive only. Drivers must hold a Class 5 licence for truck and trailer, keep logbooks correctly, and carry a Dangerous Goods endorsement when transporting DG. Compliance remains with the hirer, and we sight licences at handover before the vehicle leaves our Tamahere, Waikato yard.
How do permits and routes work?
We match the truck and any pull-trailer to your permitted gross combination mass and route, arrange required 50MAX or HPMV permits, and recover a $200 admin fee. Operations run nationwide on permit-compliant routes, loaded height stays within the legal 4.3-metre envelope, and loads must meet the Truck Loading Code.
What is the minimum hire term?
Minimum booking is 7 days, and one-day hires aren't available. We confirm availability within 24 hours when the unit you've asked for is free. Lease terms can extend to five years, including lease-to-buy options if you'd like to move toward ownership.
What is included and excluded?
Included: scheduled servicing, fair tyre wear, general maintenance, registration, and CoF. Excluded: GST, fuel and AdBlue, insurance, infringements, and any cleaning required. Safety gear is provided on board; load bars and straps are by arrangement.
Do the trucks have tail-lifts or mezzanine floors?
No trucks in this class have a tail-lift. Some units may have a mezzanine floor by prior arrangement — let us know your freight profile and we'll confirm unit-specific details at booking, since exact specs aren't published online.
How do pick-ups, returns, and delivery work?
Pick-ups happen during business hours with a joint inspection, photo condition report, and ID check. Returns are during business hours too, with after-hours yard returns available by arrangement. We can also deliver or collect for $50 per hour plus running costs.
What about breakdowns, telematics, and insurance?
A toll-free breakdown line is available, and if a truck is off the road for more than 96 hours due to breakdown, we supply a replacement subject to availability. Fleetpin telematics helps reconcile kilometres and RUC. You insure the vehicle for the full hire term and show proof before collection — we recommend Goods-in-Transit and Public Liability cover.
How do bonds, cleaning, and branding work?
We take a bond at confirmation and refund it after return once inspection and fuel checks are complete. Cleaning fees are deducted from the bond where needed — $200 for light cleaning or $550 for heavy cleaning. Temporary branding and colour custom builds are available only on five-year leases.
