Pick-ups happen from our Tamahere, Waikato yard during business hours. We complete a joint pre-inspection together, taking photos of all sides plus the odometer or hubodometer reading, sight your ID and licence, and run through a short familiarisation before you drive away.
That familiarisation covers curtain operation and, where relevant, coupling and uncoupling, daily checks, and how to report a defect. Returns are during business hours, though you can return after hours to the yard by arrangement at no extra fee. We complete the return inspection and fuel check against your agreement, and refund the bond once there's no damage and fuel is as agreed.

How Pickup And Return Work At SS Rentals
A clean handover protects both sides. We document condition at pickup and check it again at return, so there are no surprises about damage, fuel, or your bond.
Every pickup starts with a joint pre-inspection, ID and licence checks, and a short familiarisation on the vehicle. Every return is checked against that same record, with the vehicle returned in the condition it was supplied and fuel as agreed.

Joint Pre-Inspection
We photograph all sides of the vehicle plus the odometer or hubodometer reading together with you before you leave the yard.
ID, Licence & Familiarisation
We sight your ID and licence and run through curtains, coupling and uncoupling, daily checks, and defect reporting before handover.
After-Hours Returns By Arrangement
Returns are during business hours by default, but you can return to the yard after hours by arrangement at no extra fee.
Bond Refunded On Clean Return
We check the return against your agreement, and refund the bond once there's no damage and fuel is as agreed.

How do pick-ups and returns work?
We complete a joint pre-inspection together, photographing all sides of the vehicle plus the odometer or hubodometer, sight your ID and licence, and run through a short familiarisation on curtains, coupling and uncoupling, daily checks, and defect reporting. Pick-ups and returns both happen during business hours.
How clean must the vehicle be on return?
The vehicle should come back in the same condition it was supplied. If cleaning is needed, light cleaning is charged at $200 and heavy cleaning at $550, deducted from your bond.
Do I need to be present for handover?
Yes — handover is completed with the person named on the hire agreement, or an authorised representative, so we can sight ID and licence and complete the joint inspection together.
Can returns happen after hours?
Yes. By arrangement, you can return the vehicle to the yard after hours at no extra fee.
